Lake Garda (Latin: Benacus) is the most extensive lake in Italy.
It extends from the southern portion of the valley of the Adige, until the beginning of Padan Plain; it includes 3 provinces: Trentino Alto Adige, Verona, and Brescia.
The area of the lake – which is 216 ft. above the sea-level – is about 143 sq. m., the length is 32 m. and the greatest breadth 10 m., forming a cyclable ring of 87 m. all around the lake.
Its broad basin is fed from the Sarca, which flows in at its north end from the glaciers of the Adamello, while at the southern extremity of the lake the Mincio flows.
The surrounding area includes variegated geographical features, including, among others, the long ridge of the Monte Baldo (7277 ft.), and the amazing peninsula of Sirmione.
Lake Garda’s climate is mild all year long, with summer months lasting from April to October, making it the ideal destination for a relaxing, regenerating, and active, as well as unforgettable, experience.
