Located on the West coast of Lake Garda, Gardone Riviera is known for having been the last town of the former poet Gabriele D’Annunzio.
Here, the poet lived – between 1922 and 1938 – in a hillside estate called “Il Vittoriale degli Italiani”, which contains, among others, an amphitheatre, the cruiser “Puglia” – set into a hillside, and a mausoleum.
The parish church offers an outstanding landscape of the Lake, from its rear balcony.
The port is just at the beginning of the hill, and provides a lakeside romantic walkway, getting to the boat docking and the Grand Hotel.
